What is spiritual direction, and is it for you?

Spiritual direction is one of the oldest practices in the Christian tradition—and one of the most needed today. It is not therapy, counseling, or advice-giving. Rather, it is a sacred conversation among you, your spiritual director, and God—where the primary focus is noticing and responding to God's presence, activity, and invitations in your life.

A spiritual director is sometimes called an anam cara—a Celtic term meaning "soul friend." That image resonates deeply with me. I see myself as a spiritual companion, because God is the true director. My role is to walk alongside you—listening with attentiveness and compassion, asking gentle questions, and creating space for us to discern together how God may be drawing you toward greater healing, wholeness, and love.

Who seeks spiritual direction?

What can you expect?

Sessions are one hour and typically occur monthly, either in person (Mt. Juliet, TN) or via Zoom. (Our souls need regular care just as our bodies do!) Each session is held in strict confidence.

After a few moments of greeting and getting settled, we can begin however feels right to you on a given day—often with a few moments of prayer and/or silence to settle ourselves in God's presence. Or sometimes you might prefer diving into conversation about whatever you are bringing. The space is yours to share whatever is on your heart.

There is no agenda and no "homework." Only an unhurried, attentive space for you and God.

I like to end each session by praying for you. These days it is a rare and beautiful gift to be prayed over individually and specifically.

Group Spiritual Direction

In addition to individual spiritual direction, I also offer group spiritual direction—an opportunity to gather in a prayerful community of 4-6 people to share your spiritual journey, practice attentive listening, and discern God's presence and invitations together.



​Inner Healing Prayer
In addition to individual and group spiritual direction, I also offer one-with-one Inner Healing Prayer sessions—an unhurried, God-centered process of bringing compassionate presence and healing to the deeper wounded places of the soul.

The Ignatian Spiritual Exercises
One of the unique offerings I provide is accompanying individuals and groups through the Spiritual Exercises of Saint Ignatius—a time-tested pathway of prayer and spiritual formation that deepens your relationship with God and your experience of God's love.
