Hey there! Thanks for stopping by.
If I could, I’d ask how you’re doing and what has been life-giving to you lately. That's my passion—listening to others share their hearts and discovering how God is speaking and moving in their lives. It’s how God designed me and why I’m called to the ministry of spiritual direction. I particularly resonate with the Celtic Christian concept of Anam Cara, which simply means soul friend or companion. My calling is to walk alongside others on their spiritual journey.
With a long career in Christian publishing and a passion for God’s Word, it's probably not surprising that I love words—written and spoken. I believe healing happens as we give voice to our hearts, sharing our stories and allowing God to be the editor of our lives—who shapes, directs, and redeems every part in a way that brings healing and wholeness in Christ. So, in addition to offering spiritual direction, I enjoy using God’s Word, journaling, the exploration of our own stories, and Ignatian imaginative prayer (entering the stories of Scripture, especially the Gospels) in classes and retreats to facilitate soul care and inner healing.
I also enjoy partnering with my husband, Neil, a marriage and family therapist, to lead classes, workshops, and retreats on relationships, marriage, and parenting.
Another passion of mine is the great outdoors, where I feel closest to God. Neil and I have enjoyed hiking together since our college days; and we passed down our hiking passion to our two girls, who now have flown the coup and often can be found exploring beautiful places near and far. Their adventurous spirits are inspiring! When life gets tough, we Sharpes know what to do: head to the woods! I was prayer walking long before I ever heard of spiritual direction, and today I’m part of a walking spiritual direction group through my church. Weather permitting, I’m always open to meeting in a park or finding a walking trail for a spiritual direction session.

I also love meeting for spiritual direction in my peaceful indoor space, where you’ll find the words “Be still and know” on one wall—a visual reminder of God’s continual invitation to each of us. Only when we slow down, silence the noise, and listen can we know what God wants us to know. Whatever that might be on a given day, I believe it always begins with the awareness that God is present and we are loved—just as we are. Without doing anything at all. When that realization finally moved from my head into my heart, it set me free from years of performance-based striving and people pleasing.
Contemplative practices and soul care have been a lifeline for me in the midst of a fast-paced world and my own busy schedule, teaching me the benefits of silence and solitude and how to rest in God, whose Spirit dwells within us. My hope is to provide a safe space—online or in person—where you can come as you are and be seen, known, and loved; grow in your relationship with God; and learn to rest in God’s love.

What else can I tell you about me?
I have a heart for encouraging people of all ages and stages of life. Neil and I have been married for over three decades and, as I mentioned, have two young adult daughters. I’ve been a stay-at-home-mom and a working mom. I know what it’s like to juggle the daily commute, work stress, schedules, activities, and life’s many other demands.
Together Neil and I have been through...
Through it all I’ve learned how to connect more deeply with God and experience rest and peace in my soul.
I’d love to hear from you if you’d like to find out more about spiritual direction or workshop and retreat options. Or I invite you to schedule a free 30-minute phone or Zoom consultation where you can learn more, ask questions, and see if we might be a good fit. (Please complete the Questionnaire & Disclosure Statement before your visit.) I would consider it a privilege and a blessing to get to know you, hear your story, and listen together for what God is doing in your life!

FUN FACTS
- I’m addicted to fresh flowers, and I love to buy them for my home.
- You’ll often find me humming along with songs I don’t even know.
- I began playing the flute in seventh grade and have participated in many bands, including a group that toured Europe after I graduated from high school; but playing regularly in worship for a number of years was the most meaningful to me.
- One of my favorite things about Neil (and there are many) is that he makes me laugh daily.
- I worked as a freelance editor for years so that I could be home with my girls, and I wouldn’t trade those years for anything.
- I grew up in West Tennessee, living many years in Memphis; and I have lived in the Nashville area since my early twenties when it was a "big small town” and Opryland was still the major attraction. (I miss Opryland!)
- As a PK (preacher’s kid), I lived in furnished parsonages, which meant that our homes and furniture were not our own. Each time we moved, it was sort of like hitting the reset button on life. I’ve always had a heart for those in ministry.
- I’ve loved to journal and write since I was a girl. I especially like writing personal reflections/poetry and encouraging letters and notes.
- I can’t resist brownies. Or fudge pie. Ever.
- I enjoy watching concert videos with Neil, who also loves music and plays bass guitar. Living outside Nashville, it’s even better when we can watch live music—jazz, indie, folk, rock, bluegrass, classical. Our musical tastes are eclectic.
